Coconut Oil
Couldn't load pickup availability
Wood-pressed virgin coconut oil, made from dried coconut on a wooden ghani. Edible grade — the same bottle works in a pan, on your hair and on your skin.
How it is made
Coconut goes into a wooden ghani that turns slowly, so the oil is never heated on its way out. No solvent extraction, no bleaching, no deodorising. Virgin means exactly that: first pressing, nothing done to it afterwards.
What to use it for
Kerala and coastal cooking, everyday sautéing and tempering. Off the stove, it is the traditional oil for hair — warm a little between your palms and work it into the scalp — and for skin and oil pulling. One bottle, all three jobs.
What to expect
It smells and tastes of coconut, because it has not been deodorised. Below about 24°C it turns solid and white. This is normal and is in fact a decent test of a real virgin coconut oil — stand the bottle in warm water for a few minutes and it becomes clear again. Nothing is wrong with it.
Keeping it
Best used within about six months. Cool, dark cupboard, cap closed.
Sizes
