About the oil
Is this genuinely wood-pressed, or is that just on the label?
Genuinely. We press on a wooden ghani, slowly and without heat. You can read the full process on How we press. If you want to see the press itself, we post video of it regularly on Instagram.
Why does my oil look cloudy, or have sediment at the bottom?
Because it has not been refined. Unrefined oil carries fine particles of the seed it came from, and some oils go cloudy or semi-solid in cold weather — coconut oil turns solid below about 24°C and is completely normal. Sediment settling at the bottom of the bottle is a sign the oil was left alone, not a sign it has gone off. Shake before use.
It smells strongly of the seed. Is that right?
Yes. Groundnut oil smells like groundnuts; mustard oil is pungent; sesame is nutty. Refined oils are deodorised until they smell of nothing. If yours smells of the seed, it is doing what it should. An off or sour smell is different — tell us and we will replace it.
How long does it keep?
About six months from pressing, kept away from sunlight and heat with the cap closed. Refined oils last two years because refining removes what would otherwise turn. We would rather sell you something that has to be used.
How should I store it?
Somewhere cool and dark — a cupboard, not the counter beside the stove. Do not decant into a wide open container. Buy a size you will finish in a couple of months rather than the largest one.
Can I deep fry in it?
Groundnut oil handles high heat well and is the one to fry in. Flaxseed oil should never be heated — use it cold, over food. Coconut, sesame and mustard all cook fine at normal Indian cooking temperatures.
Which oil should I actually buy?
If you are replacing your everyday cooking oil, start with groundnut or sunflower. For South Indian cooking, sesame. For Bengali and North Indian cooking, mustard. Coconut for Kerala dishes, and for hair and skin. Not sure? Message us with what you cook and we will tell you honestly — including if the answer is a smaller bottle first.
Ordering and delivery
Where do you ship?
Anywhere in India.
How long will it take?
We dispatch most orders within 1–2 working days. Delivery is typically 3–7 working days depending on your PIN code. You get a tracking link as soon as the parcel leaves us.
What does shipping cost?
It is calculated at checkout by weight, starting at ₹75. A single small bottle costs less to send than a five-litre can.
How can I pay?
UPI, credit and debit cards, net banking and wallets, all through Razorpay. Your card details never touch our servers.
What if the bottle arrives leaking?
Photograph it and write to us within 48 hours. We replace it or refund you in full, you keep the damaged one, and you pay nothing for return shipping.
Can I return it if I change my mind?
Yes, within 7 days, as long as the seal is unbroken. Opened food cannot be taken back — that is a food-safety rule. The full terms are in our refund policy.
